I recently faced an issue with my clipboard history on Windows 11. I had always relied on the clipboard history feature to manage multiple copied items, especially during my busy workdays. But suddenly, it stopped working. At first, I thought it might be a temporary glitch, but when the issue persisted, I realized I needed to delve deeper.

The problem began one day when I was trying to copy and paste several pieces of text from various documents into a single report. To my frustration, the clipboard history, which I had previously activated, wasn’t showing any of my copied items. I could only paste the last item I copied. This was a huge inconvenience, especially when working on complex tasks that required managing multiple snippets of text.

Initially, I tried the basic troubleshooting steps: I checked if the clipboard history feature was turned on in the settings. It was, but I still couldn’t access any previous copied items. I also restarted my computer, thinking it might resolve any temporary software glitches. Unfortunately, the problem persisted.

I considered performing a system file check to repair any corrupted files that might be affecting the clipboard functionality. I opened Command Prompt as an administrator once more and ran the System File Checker tool by typing the command “sfc /scannow.” This tool scans for and repairs corrupted system files. After the scan was completed and repairs were made, I restarted my computer, but unfortunately, the clipboard history still wasn’t working.

I then looked into whether any third-party software might be interfering with the clipboard functionality. I had recently installed some new applications, and I wondered if one of them was causing a conflict. I decided to uninstall these applications one by one and test the clipboard history after each uninstallation. After removing the last suspect application, I checked again, but there was no change in the clipboard history’s behavior.

Feeling a bit defeated, I considered resetting Windows 11 to its default settings. I backed up all my important files and prepared for the reset. I went to Settings, selected System, and then Recovery. I chose the option to reset the PC while keeping my files. This option reinstalls Windows without deleting personal files. After completing the reset, I reconfigured my settings and tested the clipboard history. To my relief, it finally started working correctly. I was able to see and access multiple copied items as before.
